Special Education

Teaching will be suitably adapted to the learning needs of the students. Autistic students in different grades will be exposed to mainstream curriculum (NIOS) operable in a derivative format. This will include subjects of relevance like Knowledge about India, Numeracy and Basic Math, Science, Environmental Studies, Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW) involving nature clubs, art club, dance and sports club to stimulate group education and work in community settings. Personality development flows from proficiency in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). For most autistic children this is a challenge. Personal care, toileting, hygiene, dressing, eating, table manners, mobility with spatial awareness and then scaling upto Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) like shopping, home decorum, activities of social interactions etc. This is an intersecting field that will see the alignment of OT and Special Education.
